Transforming on Stage: Mudroom Before & After
Here are some helpful hints to a successful mudroom: To get the most out of your mudroom—whether you’re adding a new one or reworking the one you already have—think about how you’ll use the space and how much square footage you can realistically allocate for it.
If you just need to stow away a few coats and a laptop bag, a tidy row of hooks behind the entry door will suffice. For families with kids, it helps to have cubbies for each individual child for stashing school supplies and sports equipment. I have found in my own house, that using a slate floor in my mudroom rather than wood works the best for such a high traffic area. It can be easily mopped and is able to take a beating. A mudroom really keeps families organized! One thing’s for certain, who ever invented mudrooms was a genius and there is no doubt helped moms keep their sanity!
